GREAT FALLS, Mont. - The University of Providence women's soccer team is represented by seven student-athletes on the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) Daktronics Scholar-Athlete list sent out Monday by the NAIA.
Tihanee Freitas, Megan Haugen, Rane Jackson, Taylor Mathews, Kaitlyn Sisler, Julia Tilton, and Taylor Ward earned the recognition for their success in the classroom.
Freitas, a senior defender from Wailuku, Hawai'i, is a Psychology major with a 3.70 GPA (Grade Point Average). Haugen is a midfielder from Richland, Wash., majoring in Business and carries a 3.60 GPA. Missoula native Rane Jackson is majoring in Exercise Science. The sophomore defenseman has a GPA of 3.91.
Kaitlyn Sisler, a goalkeeper from West Jordan, Utah, will graduate in the spring with a GPA of 4.00 in Exercise Science. Tilton is a sophomore defensive standout from Mililani, Hawai'i and has a 3.77 GPA in Forensic Science. Taylor Ward, a defenseman from Spokane, Wash., has a GPA of 3.51 in Biology.
Mathews, despite not playing in 2022, carries a 4.00 GPA in Elementary Education and the Helena native joined the team as a goalkeeper at the start of the season.
This Fall, the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete programs recognizes men's soccer players from 170 institutions. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
