MISSOULA, Mont. - It did not take long for new Argo hockey coach Tommaso DeAngelis to get his first win at the University of Providence, just two games. Cooper Page scored twice and added two assists to lead the Argos past the University of Montana 6-2 Saturday night in Missoula in ACHA action.
One night after falling 5-3, the Argos took control in the second period and added two insurance goals in the third to post the first win of the abbreviated season. Will Wright, Braden Bain, Jakob Stevenson, and Liam Carvalho also scored for Providence (1-1) in a game that was not even as close as the four-goal difference.
Page, Carvalho, and Stevenson also scored in Friday's loss, the season opener after a long-delayed absence on the ice for the 2022-2023 season. There was worry there would not even be a season before DeAngelis was hired on in November and quickly assembled a team of seven returners and seven newcomers, including two members of the Argo men's soccer team in Dante Montgomery and Bain as well as a golfer, Jake Henderson, and a couple of guys that had not played competitive hockey in a few years.
Now, they are one team and have their first win of the season.
