SALT LAKE CITY, Utah. – The University of Providence hockey program defeated Boise State 3-1 Friday afternoon.
The Argos (18-8-3) scored the first goal of the game two minutes into the contest when senior
Nicholas Demchuk found sophomore
Darnell Glasgo and he beat the goaltender to give UP a 1-0 lead.
UP continued to control the game the rest of the period out shooting the Broncos (16-9) 17-6, but UP was unable to extend the lead as the Argos went into the break leading 1-0.
Both sides went back-and-forth until with six minutes remaining in the second period senior
Adam Husli intercepted the Broncos pass and deked the goaltender to put UP in front 2-0.
Boise State added a goal a few minutes later to cut the lead in half as UP went into the third period leading 2-1.
Midway through the third period the Argos got back on the board when sophomore
Jamal Shaw found
Colby Friedrich whose wrist shot beat the goaltender to put UP ahead 3-1.
The Broncos pressured the rest of the way but could not cut into the lead as the Argos defeated Boise State 3-1.
The Argos will be back in action tomorrow, Feb. 21 when they face #4 Utah State at 1:00 p.m. for a trip to the ACHA National Championships. Â Â Â
