GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Argos hockey program fell 5-1 to Utah State University Friday night.
The Aggies (3-2) jumped out in front three minutes into the match when they floated a puck in front of the goal and were able to push the loose puck past the goaltender.
A minute later Utah State would extend their lead to two when a backhand one-timer found the back of the net.
The Argos (3-2) would answer with eight minutes left in the period when senior
Jakob Stevenson received senior
Ty Alger's pass to cut the Aggies lead in half.
Two minutes into the second period Utah State scored off a rebound opportunity to make it 3-1.
With two minutes left in the second period the Aggies went top shelf on a breakaway opportunity to extend their lead to three.
To open the third period the Argos put a shot on net but the bouncing rebound was quickly batted away by the Aggie goaltender.
Utah State would extend their lead to four when a pass from behind the net found Sean Johnston whose one-timer found the back of the net.Â
Midway through the third period the Argos had a breakaway opportunity on the power play, but senior
Braden Bain's shot was gloved by the goaltender.
Despite having a power play for the final two minutes, the Argos were unable to cut into the Aggie lead falling to Utah State 5-1.
The Argos will be back in action Oct. 7 when they host Utah Valley University. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Great Falls Ice Plex.
