GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence hockey program finished their home stand with a 7-1 victory over Utah Valley University.

The Argos (4-2) struck first eight minutes into the game when a slapshot by freshman AJ Belanger snuck past the screened goaltender.

UP would extend their lead with five minutes left in the first period when freshman Chavez Constant drove to the net and his backhand shot beat the goaltender to make it 2-0.

On the very next possession the Argos would score again when senior Jakob Stevenson found freshman Jonathan O'Brien in front of the net to extend the UP lead to three.

With two minutes left in the period Stevenson feathered the puck to the opposite side of the ice and the goaltender was unable to clear the puck as O'Brien scored his second goal of the night.

Thirty seconds later the Argos scored again when freshman Jamal Kalaf found freshman Adam Husli whose forehand shot found the back of the net.

With five minutes left in the second period a slapshot by Chavez was tipped in by Husli for his second goal of the game.

13 seconds into the third period the Wolverines (0-7) cut into the Argo lead after they pushed a loose puck past the goaltender.

The Argos would answer with two minutes left in the third period when Stevenson's backhand pass went across the middle to Constant who found O'Brien for his third goal of the night and first career hat trick.

The Wolverines would threaten late in the period but were unable to cut into the Argo lead as UP won the game 7-1.

The Argos will be back in action Oct. 19 when they visit Montana State University. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. in Bozeman, Mont.
