BOISE, Idaho. – Despite three third period goals, the University of Providence hockey program fell 4-3 to Boise State University Thursday night.
The Broncos (1-0) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after early pressure by Boise State led to a shot from the slot that was buried.
Boise State would score again off a rebound shot that went off the goaltender was corralled by the Broncos making it 2-0.
The Argos (0-1) had a chance late in the first period but could not handle the bouncing puck and it was cleared away by Boise State.
Five minutes into the second period there was a minor penalty on both teams resulting in a four on four. With more room to skate the Broncos were able to capitalize and extend their lead to three.
The Argos had a power play opportunity late in the second period, but they could not get any clean opportunities past the Broncos defense.
UP would cut into the lead early in the third period when freshman
Chavez Constant went around the defender and beat the goalie short side to cut the Broncos lead to two. This was Constant's first career goal for the Argos.
Despite pressure from the Argos, Boise State was able to extend their lead back to three after a breakaway for the Broncos found the back of the net.

Jakob Stevenson who found freshman
AJ Belanger in front of the net whose chip shot beat the keeper to bring the lead back within two.
A few minutes later the Argos counterattack worked to perfection when freshman
Jonathan O'Brien found senior
Braden Bain across the ice and his return pass to Stevenson set up a one on one with the goaltender and Stevenson's forehand fake put the goalie out of position and he buried the back hand shot.
The Argos had a few chances late but would come up short losing to Boise State 4-3.
The Argos will be back in action tomorrow versus Utah Valley University. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (MDT) at Idaho Ice World.
