DEVILS LAKE, N.D. – The University of Providence hockey team defeated Lake Region State 6-3 Thursday night.
The Argos (5-4) jumped in front two and a half minutes into the game when freshman 
Jamal Shaw shot the puck in front of the net and freshman 
Kage Yellowfly tipped it past the goaltender to make it 1-0.
A minute later the Argos scored again when on a two on zero break sophomore 
Elliott Venini passed it across to senior 
Tobias Robinson whose one-timer found the back of the net to put UP ahead by two.  
UP would continue to control the game but wouldn't score the rest of the period going into the break ahead 2-0.
The Argos started the second period quick scoring in under a minute when junior 
AJ Belanger's wrist shot bounced off the goaltender and junior 
Adam Husli quickly beat him with a wrist shot of his own to put UP ahead 3-0.
The Royals responded to cut the lead to two, but a few minutes later Belanger found a streaking Husli whose wrist shot went top corner to beat the goaltender to make it 4-1 five minutes into the second period.
Lake Region State scored their second goal of the game and despite a few chances from UP, the Argos went into the break leading 4-2.
Five minutes into the third period junior 
Colby Friedrich forced a Royal's turnover and found freshman 
Kaden Bolter who went short side to put the Argos ahead 5-2.
Lake Region State cut the lead to two with five minutes remaining, but a power play goal from sophomore 
Jamal Kalaf secured the Argos 6-3 victory.
The Argos will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Bottineau, N.D. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (MST) versus the Dakota College of Bottineau.   Â
