BOTTINEAU, N.D. – The University of Providence hockey program defeated the Dakota College at Bottineau 9-2 Saturday afternoon.
The Argos (7-4) jumped in front first when junior
Adam Husli tipped the puck out to sophomore
AJ Belanger who pushed it past the goaltender to put UP ahead 1-0.
A couple of minutes later the Argos extended their lead to two when sophomore
Jamal Kalaf found Husli whose one-timer caught the back of the net. Â
Freshman
Daniel Tainton would add another first period goal, but with six minutes remaining the Lumberjacks scored to make it 3-1 heading into the second period.
The Dakota College at Bottineau added a goal to begin the second, but the Argos would answer with goals from freshman
Jamal Shaw and Belanger to make it 5-2 heading into the third.
Despite pressure from the Lumberjacks to begin the third, the Argos had goals from seniors
Charles Lupelow,
Tobias Robinson, and juniors
Colby Friedrich and Husli to secure the 9-2 victory for UP.
The Argos will be back in action Thursday, Oct. 31 when they host Weber State University. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. Â Â Â Â
