GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence hockey program fell to Weber State 5-4 in overtime Thursday night.
The Argos (7-5) jumped in front within the first minute when freshman
Daniel Tainton found freshman
Kaden Bolter on the two-on-one break to put UP ahead 1-0. Â
The Wildcats would add a goal midway through the first period to tie the game at one and with seven seconds remaining in the period Weber State scored again as UP went into the break trailing 2-1.
Weber State scored a pair of goals to open the second, but midway through the period the Argos had a power play opportunity where junior
Colby Friedrich's wrist shot bounced past the goaltender and was pushed into the back of the net by sophomore
Jamal Kalaf. Â
Less than a minute later the Argos cut the lead to one when junior
Adam Husli's pass through the crease found sophomore
Chavez Constant whose one-timer beat the goaltender to make it 4-3.
Neither side would threaten the rest of the second, but two minutes into the third period Friedrich passed it out to freshman
Sam Duehlmeier whose wrist shot from the blue line got past the screened goaltender to make it 4-4.
Both teams were scoreless the rest of the way until in overtime a Weber State attacker took it all the way himself and found the back of the net as the Argos fell 5-4 in overtime.
The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Nov. 2 when they host Utah State University. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. Â Â Â Â
