GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence hockey program defeated Utah State 6-0 Saturday night.
The Argos (8-5) scored the first goal of the game with just under two minutes remaining in the first period when sophomore
AJ Belanger passed it in front of the net to junior
Adam Husli who pushed it past the goaltender to put UP ahead 1-0.
Midway through the second period the Argos extended their lead to two when on a two-on-one fast break freshman
Kage Yellowfly found freshman
Fabian Vik for a one-timer that found the back of the net to make it 2-0.
Despite a five-on-three opportunity late in the second period for the Aggies, UP's penalty kill stood tall as UP went into the break leading 2-0.
The Argos scored one minute into the third period when freshman
Daniel Tainton passed it across the ice to junior
Colby Friedrich whose wrist shot beat the goaltender to put UP ahead by three.
The Argos added another three goals courtesy of sophomore
Chavez Constant, Belanger, and Vik, and despite late pressure from the Aggies, sophomore goaltender
Paul Jarvis completed the shutout as UP defeated Utah State 6-0.
The Argos will be back in action Friday, Nov. 8 when they travel to Missoula, Mont. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. versus the University of Montana.
