Argos Host Cumberlands For NAIA Opening Round

GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence volleyball hosts the University of the Cumberlands for the Opening Round of the NAIA National Tournament. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23.
 
Last Time Out
The Argos pulled off the reverse sweep over Montana Western to win the Frontier Conference Tournament Championship. UP had seven Argos earn all-conference accolades in Bella Thompson winning Player of the Year, Ava Saiers earning Newcomer of the Year, Arunas Duda winning Head Coach of the Year, Sacha Simmons earning Assistant Coach of the Year, and Nina Janjic, Cabry Taylor, and Sadie Giles being named first team all-conference.
 
Stat Leaders
The Argos lead attacker so far this season has been senior Nina Janjic. Janjic is currently averaging 3.69 kills per set which leads the Frontier Conference. Thompson is currently second in the conference in total assists with 1247 and is currently #2 in the NAIA in assists per set with 11.55. Defensively, sophomore Cabry Taylor is currently #8 in the NAIA in blocks per set with 1.32 and leads the conference in total blocks with 143 while senior Ava Saiers is third in the conference in digs per set with 5.68.
 
Cumberlands
The Patriots finished the regular season with a record of 32-5 and fell to Lindsey Wilson College in the Mid-South Conference Tournament championship game. Cumberlands was receiving votes in the last NAIA top 25 poll, and this will be the first matchup in program history between the Argos and the Patriots.
