LOGAN, Utah – The University of Providence hockey program wrapped up the Beehive Showcase with a 5-4 victory over LMU Sunday afternoon.
The Argos (15-6) scored the first goal of the contest four minutes in when junior
Colby Friedrich's wrist shot bounced off the goaltender and Friedrich cleaned up his own rebound to put UP in front 1-0.
The Lions answered a few minutes later to tie the game at one, but with six minutes left in the period sophomore
AJ Belanger's went across the ice to freshman
Jamal Shaw whose toedrag wrister beat the goaltender to make it 2-1.
LMU scored another two goals in the first period, but Friedrich found freshman
Kaden Bolter in front of the net with a minute remaining as UP went into the break tied at three.
Junior
Adam Husli opened the second period scoring two goals less than thirty seconds apart to give the Argos a 5-3 lead.
The Lions cut the lead to one midway through the period as UP went into the break leading 5-4.
Both sides had powerplay opportunities in the third period, but neither team added another goal as the Argos wrapped up the Beehive Showcase with a 5-4 victory over LMU.
The Argos will be back in action Dec. 6 when they travel to Williston, N.D. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. versus Williston State College. Â Â Â Â Â
