WILLISTON, N.D. – The University of Providence hockey program cruised to a 13-2 victory over Williston State College Friday night.
The Argos (16-6) scored the first goal of the game one minute into the contest when off a faceoff win by junior
Colby Friedrich, freshman
Kage Yellowfly skated around the defender and went top corner to put UP in front 1-0.
Just over a minute later the Argos made it 2-0 when a drop pass from sophomore
Chavez Constant found sophomore
Elliott Venini whose shot from the blue line snuck past the screened goaltender and into the back of the net.
Midways through the period UP added a third goal when junior
Adam Husli corralled the loose puck and skated into the center of the ice before ripping a wrist shot past the goaltender to make it 3-0.
A few minutes later the Argos made it 4-0 when on the two-on-one break Friedrich found Husli who went five-hole to beat the goaltender.
With two minutes remaining in the first the Argos continued to pile on scoring their fifth goal when Friedrich found junior
Fabian Vik for the one-timer to put UP ahead 5-0 heading into the break.
Midway through the second period UP extended their lead to six with a goal by sophomore
Jamal Kalaf, and a few minutes later UP scored two goals in 10 seconds to make it 8-0 when Venini and Vik each scored their second of the day.
Despite a pair of third period goal from the Tentons, the Argos cruised the rest of the way scoring another four goals to defeat Williston State College 13-2. Â
The Argos will be back in action tomorrow, Dec. 7 for another matchup with Williston State College. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Williston, N.D. Â Â Â Â Â Â
