2/10/2024 6:45:00 PM

LOGAN, Utah – The University of Providence hockey program fell to Utah State University 3-2 in the MWCHL Championship Saturday night.

The Argos (15-6) threatened early getting three shots off in the first twenty seconds but were unable to find the back of the net.

UP would strike first when shorthanded freshman Adam Husli picked off the Aggies pass and buried his wrist shot to put the Argos in front.

The Aggies would respond with a tip in goal in the second period to tie the game at one.

With three minutes left in the second period senior Jakob Stevenson picked off an Aggie pass and toe dragged around the defender, but his backhand shot was stopped by the goaltender.

The Aggies would add a pair of goals in the third period to take a 3-1 lead, but senior Jakob Stevenson would take the puck all the way to the net and his backhand shot beat the goaltender for the Argos second shorthanded goal of the game.

The Argos had a few chances late but were unable to find the game tying goal as UP fell 3-2 to Utah State in the MWCHL Championship.
