LOGAN, Utah – The University of Providence hockey program won their opening game of the MWCHL conference tournament defeating Utah Valley 4-1.
The Argos (14-5) scored the first goal of the game when freshman
Adam Husli's shot ricocheted off the post right to freshman
AJ Belanger whose wrist shot got past the goaltender.
Late in the second period the Argos would add another goal when freshman
Chavez Constant's slap shot was tipped in by senior
Dante Montgomery to make it 2-0.
A few moments later Belanger found freshman
Colby Friedrich on the odd man rush and Friedrich's wrist shot found the back of the net to give the Argos a three-goal lead going into the final period.
Despite Utah Valley adding a goal early in the third period, the Argos would get it back when freshman
Chavez Constant secured the 4-1 victory with an empty net goal.
The Argos will be back in action tomorrow for the MWCHL semi-finals at George S. Eccles Ice Center. Â
