GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence hockey program fell to Weber State 2-1 Thursday night.
The Argos (2-2) had the first opportunity of the game when a cross ice pass from senior
Colby Friedrich to senior
Adam Husli set him up in front of the goal, but Husli could not get a clean shot off as the bouncing puck was pushed away.
Both teams had chances the rest of the period but neither side could find the back of the net as UP went into the break tied at zero.
The Wildcats (6-0) scored one minute into the second period, but the Argos continued to pressure with shots from junior
Chavez Constant and freshman
Logan Todd, but neither could find the equalizer.
Weber State added a goal with just over three and half minutes left in the second period, and despite a few late chances for the Argos, UP went into the final break trailing 2-0.
The Argos opened the third with a backdoor pass from Husli to Friedrich, but his chip shot was saved by the Wildcat goaltender.
UP continued their momentum a few minutes later when a shot from junior
Zach Fulton was blocked by the Wildcats but senior
Nicholas Demchuk corralled the puck and his shot went top corner to cut the lead in half.
The Argos had a few chances down the stretch including a powerplay with three minutes left, but UP was unable to find the game tying goal as the Argos fell to Weber State 2-1.
The Argos will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 3 when they host Utah State. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. Â Â
