GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence hockey program defeated Montana Tech 8-2 Friday night.
The Argos (7-6-1) scored the first goal of the contest when senior
Fabian Vik found senior
Adam Husli and he skated around the defender and beat the goaltender to put UP in front 1-0.
A few minutes later the Argos extended their lead to two when senior
Colby Friedrich found Vik in the slot and his one-timer found the back of the net.
Neither side threatened the rest of the period as the Argos went into the break leading 2-0.
Six minutes into the second period junior
Logan Ursulak's pass to junior
AJ Belanger connected and his wrist shot went top corner to put UP ahead 3-0.
Moments later the Argos extended the lead to four when senior
Brett Janssens shot from the blue line trickled past the goaltender to give UP a 4-0 edge with 13 minutes remaining in the second period.
Following a goal from the Orediggers (8-7), the Argos answered when Belanger took the puck down the ice and fired a wrist shot that beat the goaltender to put UP in front 5-1.
Husli and Vik would add their second goals of the game a couple minutes later and a wrist shot from sophomore
Darnell Glasgo found the back of the net to give the Argos an 8-1 lead heading into the third period.
The Orediggers added a goal in the third period, but the Argos defense stood strong down the stretch as UP defeated Montana Tech 8-2.
The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 15 when they head to Butte, Mont. Puck drop versus Montana Tech is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Â Â Â Â Â
