GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence hockey program defeated the University of Montana 5-2 Friday night.
The Argos (6-6-1) scored the first goal of the game when in the first minute junior
Chavez Constant found sophomore
Daniel Tainton on the side of the net, and he pushed it past the goaltender to give UP a 1-0 lead.
The Grizzlies answered by scoring two goals over the final four minutes of the second period as the Argos went into the break trailing 2-1.
Both teams went back-and-forth throughout the second period until on an Argos power play a pass from behind the net from senior
Adam Husli found sophomore
Darnell Glasgo in the slot and his one-timer found the back of the net to tie the game at two.
Thirty seconds later the Argos took the lead when senior
Fabian Vik toe-dragged between two defenders and went top corner to beat the goaltender and give UP a 3-2 lead heading into the third period.
The Argos continued their momentum into the third period when Glasgo intercepted a pass from the Grizzlies and his wrist shot went off the goaltender, but Glasgo corralled his own rebound and found the back of the net to put UP in front 4-2.
UP added another goal with six minutes remaining from Tainton, and despite a few late chances for the Grizzlies, the Argos picked up their 10
th straight victory over the University of Montana with a 5-2 win.
The Argos will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 14 when they host Montana Tech. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. Â Â Â Â
