HELENA, Mont. – The University of Providence hockey program fell to #1 Montana State University 5-2 in the Montana Cup Championship Saturday night in Helena.

The Bobcats (35-3) scored the first goal of the contest and added a second just moments later leaving the Argos (23-10) down 2-0 midway through the first.

Both teams would exchange shots for the rest of the period until Montana State added another with time winding down extending their lead to three heading into the second.

The second period went back and forth but the Argos found the back of the net off a rebound shot from junior Adam Husli giving UP life trailing 3-1 midways through the period.

Despite late shot attempts from the Argos neither team pushed another goal across as UP went into the third trailing by two.

UP started the third period fast with a goal off a one-timer from freshman Kaden Bolter assisted by freshman Darnell Glasgo to cut their deficit to one.

The Bobcats immediately responded with a score of their own to retake a two goal lead with 15 minutes left to play.

The Argos kept pressure on the rest of the game but were unable to make a comeback as they fell to #1 Montana State 5-2.

The Argos will be back in action, Feb. 21 when they head to Westminster, Colorado for the ACHA West Regional Tournament. Puck drop versus the second highest remaining seed is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. (MST).
