GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence has announced the hiring of Dajon Mingo as the next Head Coach of the Argos men's ice hockey program.

Mingo stated, "I'm incredibly honored and excited to be named the new head hockey coach at the University of Providence! This is an amazing opportunity, and I can't wait to get started with this team and this community. There will no doubt be challenges ahead, but I'm ready to face them head-on. The most important goal right now is to refocus, build a strong team culture, and work together to get the Argos back on the path to Nationals. I believe in the potential of this program, and I'm committed to putting in the work to help us grow and succeed on and off the ice. I'm proud to call the University of Providence my new home away from home. Let's go, Argos!"

Mingo was the head coach of the Yellowstone Quake in the NA3HL for the 2024-2025 season and prior to his time with the Quakes assisted with the development of practice plans and pre-scout videos for the Fort Wayne Komets.

Prior to his time in Fort Wayne, Mingo was a player advisor for Rule1 Sports and founded the Mingo Hockey camp to help showcase, grow, and guide young talent ages 8-14. Mingo also spent time as the Youth Hockey Director for Community First Igloo where he coached private lessons, adult and youth classes, and coached the 14U, 12U, 10U, and 8U travel teams.

As a player, Mingo graduated from Bowling Green State University where he was the BGSU Rookie of the Year in 2012. Following graduation, Mingo played 379 games in eight years in the ECHL for the Toledo Walleye, Kalamazoo Wings, Jacksonville Icemen, Cincinnati Cyclones, Adirondack Thunder, and the Reading Royals tallying 181 total points.

"Dajon is committed to building leaders on and off the ice, which fits perfectly within our vision and mission as a Catholic university," said Kylie Carranza, Chief of Staff to the President, who is the current leadership oversight for athletics. "We were looking for someone who would embrace the University of Providence mission and understand what makes this hockey program, this Argo Athletics crew and this Great Falls community so special," said Carranza. "We found that and more in Dajon. He is going to be a great addition to lead our great group of young men."
