Argos Sweep Frontier Conference Player of the Week Honors

HELENA, Mont. – After leading the Argos to victories over #5 Bellevue and Dakota State, senior Bella Thompson, and juniors Cabry Taylor and Martyna Fiedler have earned Frontier Conference Player of the Week honors.

Head coach Arunas Duda on his athlete's performance stated, "Cabry, Martyna, and Bella were all outstanding this week. Each of them stepped up in huge ways against top opponents, showing incredible poise, leadership, and competitive fire. To have three players earn Player of the Week honors in the same stretch speaks volumes about their talent, consistency, and the way they elevate our team in big moments."

Thompson is a setter from Kapahulu, Oahu and totaled 73 assists to average 12.17 assists per set over the victories against #5 Bellevue and Dakota State. Thompson also tallied 20 digs and nine blocks to average 3.33 digs and 1.5 blocks per set.  

This is Thompson's fourth setter of the week award this season and 15th of her career after taking home the award nine times last season. Thompson is currently second in the Frontier Conference in total assists with 547 and is seventh in the NAIA in assists per set with 10.94.

Taylor is a middle-blocker from White Sulphur Springs, Mont. and totaled 11 blocks to average 1.83 blocks per set over the weekend. Taylor also tallied 14 kills to average 2.33 per set while hitting .263 in the Argos sweeps over #5 Bellevue and Dakota State.  

This is Taylor's second Defender of the Week award this season and third of her career after earning the NAIA Defender of the Week award last season. Taylor currently leads the Frontier Conference in both total blocks with 65 and blocks per set with 1.30.

Fiedler is an outside hitter from Poznan, Poland and totaled 25 kills to average 4.17 kills per set over the weekend. Martyna set a new career high in the Argos sweep over #5 Bellevue tallying 15 kills while hitting .400.  This is Fiedler's first Attacker of the Week award this season and first of her career at UP.

The Argos will be back in action Friday, Oct. 3 when they head to Butte, Mont. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. versus #19 Montana Tech.
