KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Providence women's volleyball program moved up five spots to #5 in the latest NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches Ratings on Wednesday.
Head coach Arunas Duda stated, "We are extremely excited and honored by our top 5 ranking. This has been a collection of many years of dedication and hard work by the players and coaches to get back to this point. This is a mature group that is battle tested, and we were able to work our way through some tough matches early on. I'm optimistic for the future because we pride ourselves on doing the right things. We know we must continue to work hard and improve every week. We are also smart enough to know that there is still a lot of volleyball ahead of us and defending this ranking gets tougher each weak because everyone will bring their best against our team every night."
The Argos were ranked #10 in previous poll and have since picked up victories over #8 IU Kokomo, #21 Nelson University, and #24 William Carey. #5 matches the highest ranking in program history for the Argos since they were ranked #5 at the end of the 2021 season.
UP also has earned three Frontier Conference Player of the Week awards and one NAIA Player of the Week award so far this season. Junior Cabry Taylor was named the Frontier Conference and the NAIA Defender of the Week, while senior Bella Thompson and junior Kyra Saiers have earned Frontier Conference Setter and Defender of the Week, respectively.
The Argos will be back in action Friday, Sept. 5 when they travel to Helena, Mont. for the Frontier Conference Opener against Carroll College at 7:00 p.m.
