LOCKWOOD, Mont. – The University of Providence indoor track and field teams competed at the Yellowjacket Open throughout the day Saturday

The Argos had a few highlights in sophomores Lauren Cima and Havyn Vandenacre who qualified for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships in the Shot Put and Javelin on Saturday.
 
Vandenacre placed first in the Javelin with a throw of 42.87m which qualifies her at A Standard for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships for the second consecutive season.
 
Cima placed second in the Shot Put at 13.75m which qualifies her at B standard for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships. In 2025, Cima became the first freshman in program history to qualify for all three throwing events.

UP also saw freshman Shaun Youngblood place first in the Triple Jump at 13.80m in his first collegiate meet of the outdoor season.

The ARgos also had four other athletes place in the top three at the Yellowjacket Open in Logan Nicholson placing second in the high jump, Avari Batt placed second in the discus, Grace Finkle placed third in the discus, and Shelbey Klein placed third in the javelin.

The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, April 4 when they head to Butte, Mont. for the Montana Tech Spring Series. Athletes will be competing throughout the day at the Charlie Merrifield Track.
