Three Argos Qualify for NAIA National Championships at Montana Tech Spring Series

BUTTE, Mont. – The University of Providence outdoor track and field teams competed at Montana Tech Spring Series throughout the weekend.

The Argos had a few highlights in senior Shelbey Klein, freshman Grace Finkle, and sophomore Lauren Cima who qualified for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships on Friday and Saturday.
 
Klein threw a distance of 41.15m in the Javelin which qualifies her at B Standard for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships for the second consecutive season. Klein earned All-American status with a fifth-place finish at the NAIA National Championships in 2025.
 
Cima placed first in the Shot Put at 14.00m and placed first in the Hammer Throw with a distance 52.57m which qualifies her at B standard for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships. Cima is now qualified at B Standard in both the Shot Put and the Hammer Throw for the 2026 National Championships.
 
Finkle placed first in the discus at 45.33m which qualifies her at B standard for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships. In her second outdoor meet of her collegiate career, Finkle joined Klein, Cima, and sophomore Havyn Vandenacre with a qualifying mark for the NAIA Championships.

UP also saw freshman Shaun Youngblood place first in the Triple Jump at 13.43m and Evan Major, Reece Graves, Tristan Lewandowski, and Tumelo Selebeleng tied the school record in the 4x100 relay with a time of 43.41.

The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, April 11 when they head to Butte, Mont. for the Montana Tech Spring Series #2. Athletes will be competing throughout the day at the Charlie Merrifield Track.
