BOZEMAN, Mont. – Argo Hockey rallied in the third period to score four-straight points, however the Montana State Bobcats tallied a goal in overtime to take the 7-6 win.
The Bobcats tallied three unanswered goals to open up the match and take the early lead, 3-0. The Argos responded as
Cody Hendrickson sent a puck to
Leo Felt to tally the Argos first goal of the match and bring the deficit to two, 3-1. However, the Bobcats would tack on one more first-period goal to push the lead back to three.
Montana State tacked on another goal to open the second period as they took a four-point lead.
Jeron Hirschfeld responded for the Argos to score their second goal to bring the deficit back to three, 5-2. Montana State once again scored at the end of the period to give the Bobcats a four-point advantage headed to the final period, 6-2.
The Argos kicked things into gear during the final period.
Leo Felt tallied Providence's first goal of the third to reduce the deficit back to three, 6-3. Felt then sent a puck to Hirschfeld to tally his second goal of the match and bring the deficit down to two goals, 6-4. With slightly over 10 minutes remaining in the match,
Kyler Mack notched the Argos third goal of the period to bring the game within one, 6-5. The Argos third-period rally cumulated to an unassisted goal from
Erik Gatson that tied up the match for the Argos in the final seconds of the period to send the game to overtime, 6-6.
The Bobcats tallied the game-winner with two minutes remaining in the first overtime period to take the 7-6 win over the Argos.
