GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Argo hockey rallied from a 2-0 deficit to produce their first double-digit point total in program history, earning a huge 12-3 upset of the No. 9 Eastern Washington Eagles on Friday evening.
The Argos' (5-5-1)
Leo Felt led all scorers as he netted four goals, in addition to an assist, while teammate
Kyler Mack collected three assists and tallied two goals in the win.
The Eagles got on the board first as they tallied two goals by the 12-minute mark, 2-0.
The Argos would eventually cut the deficit in half before the first break as
Leo Felt handled a puck from
Jeron Hirschfeld to put the Argos within one, 2-1.
The Argos kicked things into gear in the second period. Felt tallied his second goal of the day a little over six minutes into the period to tie things up, 2-2. Cody Hendickson netted the Argos go-ahead score delivered by
Josh Larson and
Jeron Hirschfeld, 3-2.The Argos tallied three more goals to close out the period as Larson,
Erik Gatson, and Felt netted scores to put the Argos up by four, 6-2.
A little over three minutes into the final period,
Josh Ihling scored on a puck from
Dawson Smith to push the Argos lead to five, 7-2.The Eagles tallied their third goal of the match less than a minute later to cut the deficit back to four, 7-3.However, that was as close as they Eagles would get as Smith would net a goal of his own to push the Argos lead back to five, 8-3. Felt tallied his fourth goal of the match in the 10
th minute unassisted to make it 9-3.
Kyler Mack netted two in a row to give the Argos a 11-3 lead.
Parker Hanson would add one more goal in the 18
th minute of the final period to seal the Argos nine-point win, 12-3.
