BUTTE, Mont. – The No. 11 Argos (8-6-1) claimed a decisive 6-1 victory following four third-period scores over the Montana Tech Orediggers (0-9) on Friday night.
Leo Felt led all scorers as he tallied two first-period scores, in addition tallying a pair of assists in the win.
Trevor Checketts and
Josh Larson also notched two assists in the win.
Less than a minute into play, the Argos opened up the scoring as
Leo Felt connected on a goal sent from Jeron Hirshfeld and Checketts, 1-0, at the 19:11-minute mark.
Felt notched his second score of the contest with less than three minutes remaining in the opening period on a puck delivered by
Josh Larson to give the Argos a two-point advantage, 2-0, at the first break.
The Orediggers got on the board in the second period as they tallied a goal with slightly more than five minutes to go to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.
The Argos kicked things into gear in the final period.
Kyler Mack handled a puck from Felt and Checketts to extend the Argos lead back to two, 3-1, at the 11-minute mark of the third period. Less than three minutes later, Parker Hansen netted an unassisted score to give the Argos a three-point lead, 4-1, with a little over eight minutes to go.
Cody Hendrickson notched another score for the Argos at the 6-minute mark as Josh and
Leo Felt tallied their second assists of the contest to put the Argos up by four, 5-1.
Xander Pivovarnik added some insurance during the final minute of the match from Hanson and
Josh Ihling to push the Argos lead to its final, 6-1.

The Argos will finish out their road trip next Thursday as they travel to Bozeman, Montana to take on the Montana State Bobcats at 7 p.m. The Argos will then return to Great Falls on Saturday, January 19 as they host the Montana Tech Orediggers at 2 p.m.
