Great Falls, Mont. – The 2018-2019 University of Providence women's soccer team was awarded the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for their academic standing last season. 

The award is given to all collegiate soccer teams who finished with a team GPA of 3.0 or above. The Argos finished with a team GPA of 3.49.

"I'm proud of the team," head coach Brian Clarke said. "It's tough with our travel in this conference and as much missed class time as they have. They have a huge dedication to their academics. Huge kudos to my assistant coaches who have been monitoring their academics and taking care of their study halls. We give them the opportunity to stay on top of their studies and give them the resources they need."

The Argos were one of 652 women's programs around the nation that received the award. Carroll was the only other school in the Cascade Conference to receive one as well. 

The award showcases the program's dedication to success not only on the field, but also in the classroom.

 "When we recruit anybody, we tell them that the number one thing is you're coming here for academics," Clarke said. "Soccer is an opportunity to advance your education. It's a blessing that you have this ability, you can use it to get a scholarship, but the number one reason you should come here is for your academics."
