Great Falls, Mont.- It's a sweep for the University of Providence men's hockey team as they defeated Williston State again on Saturday night. The Argos were behind early in the contest before storming back and netting 7 goals on the night.
The end of the first period the Argos went into the locker room with a 2-1 lead. After two periods of play, the Argos extend that lead by one (3-1). The third period was all UP as the Argos scored four more times to end the contest 7-1.
Seven different Argo players scored Saturday night, led by Cody Henderson, scoring once and adding in three assists.
"I thought we came out a little slow at first but once we got our feet under us, we made plays and pucks went in the net and that's kinda how the rest of the game went," he said. "It's always fun to get a few goals out there. First one I was just sittin in front of the net and put it in. My first assist, was to Levi, it just came out in the corner where Levi was wide open, so it was pretty easy pass to make."
"He creates a lot of offense," head coach Jeff Heimel said. "He and Levi (Anderson) were in every play. Before they scored their respective goals, you could tell they were ready for a big night just because they had multiple scoring chances and finally put points on the board." Jeff said he's happy with the past two games and thought the discipline of the team was much better in game two. One of the things Coach Heimel thought his team needs to work on is Systems knowledge playing in the right zones and are the guys in the right spots.
Coach Heimel mentioned Levi Anderson, the big 6-foot Junior. Anderson chipped in two assist and a score in the second period.
Levi said, "The entire team worked hard, and it went well for us." That really is an understatement as the UP Argos scored 13 goals in two nights.
Argos will get a couple days off before heading to Provo, UT for their next match on Thursday, Oct 10, 2019. The next home match will be October 18,2019 where the Argos will battle Minot State University.
