Troy, Mich. – The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men's Division 2 made up of four regions, Northeast, Central, Southeast and West, this week unveiled its first ranking of the 2019-20 season.
In the Northeast, Roger Williams University sits on top boasting a 6-4 overall record. The Hawks have won four of their last five games, including posting their fourth home win on the young season by handling Montclair State, 9-2-0. On the heels of the top spot at No 2 is Boston College with a 4-4-0 record.
No. 1 in the Central Region. The defending ACHA D3 National Champions, who moved to D2 this season have not missed a beat, recording 6.78 goals per contest. This competitive Central Region features the University of Saint Thomas (8-3-0) in the No. 2 spot, followed by undefeated Gustavuas Adolphus College (4-0-0), which has only surrendered nine goals thus far.
Boasting the top win total in D2, the University of Mary has won 16 of its first 19 games, good enough for the No. 1 spot in the West Region. Having almost exceeding its win total of eight from 2018-19, the University of Providence, Great Falls, comes in at No. 2 with a 7-4-1 record, while the University of Oregon, which has won nine of the its first 10 games is ranked No. 3. Rounding out the top five is No. 4 University of Utah State (7-4-0) and No. 5 Weber State University (6-6-0).
The 2020 ACHA Men's Division 2 National Championships will be hosted March 19-24 for the second time by the Dallas Stars, Visit Frisco, and Children's Health Star Centers at the Comerica Center, in Frisco, TX.
