WILLISTON, N.D. – No. 19 Argo hockey closed out their 2018-19 inaugural season on Saturday against the No. 6 Williston State Tetons, 9-4.
Cody Hendrickson led the Argos with four points, netting two scores and assisting on the two others. Jeron Hirshfeld and
Leo Felt both tallied two points, from a score and assist for Hirschfeld and a pair of assists for Felt in the loss.
The two teams traded scores during the opening 20 minutes, as the Tetons scored the opening goal and the final goal of the period, 3-2.
Hendrickson notched the Argos first goal of the game without any help to tie things at one.
Following Williston's second score, Joshua Larson netted during an Argo's power play after being sent a puck from Hendrickson and Felt to once again even things at two.
However, the Tetons landed another shot to close the period and hold the one-point lead at the first intermission.
Hirschfeld got things going to open the second period as he connected during another power play on a puck from Hendrickson, his second assist of the game, to knot things back up at three 22 seconds into the period
The Tetons started to break away in the second as they netted three unanswered scores to take a 6-3 lead through the seven-minute mark of the period. Felt and Hirschfeld sent a pass to Hendrickson to net another score for the Argos to send things into the final 20 minutes of play with a two-point deficit, 6-4.
However, Williston locked down on defense over the final period as they would tally three more scores, while holding the Argos scoreless in route to the 9-4 victory.
