WILLISTON, N.D. - The University of Providence men's hockey team defeated Williston State 5-1 Friday evening.
Erik Gatson got on the board first for the Argos off the pass from
Cody Hendrickson. The Tetons evened it up five minutes later, but a goal from
Levi Anderson gave the Argos a 2-1 lead after the first period. Anderson found the back of the net again in the second off the pass from
Cooper Page.
The Argos blew things open in the third period.
Gabriel Kwiatkowski scored a goal off the assist from
Will Wright with 12:56 left in the third.
Kyler Mack then scored with 8 minutes remaining to clinch the 5-1 victory.
"I wouldn't say that it was a great hockey game," head coach
Jeff Heimel said. "It took us awhile to get going, but we were able to keep the lead for the most of the game. We started playing better in the third. At the end of the day, we got another win on the road."
The Argos will have next week off before heading down to Provo for the conference tournament.
"We're one step closer to our goal of winning a National Tournament," Heimel said. "We have to be happy about that. We did well on the scoreboard this weekend. We just have to clean some things up and make sure we're giving the best effort for a full 60 minutes."
