MSOC Preseason Poll 20-21

Men's Soccer

Argos Picked to Finish 6th in CCC

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's soccer team was voted 6th place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll that was released Wednesday morning.

The Argos, who finished 10-5-1 last season, were two votes behind Oregon Tech, who was picked 5th. They finished five points of Northwest and eight points ahead of Evergreen State.

"It's the best soccer conference in the NAIA," interim head coach Danny Burstein said. "There are usually three teams consistently ranked in the Top 25 nationally and making runs in the National Tournament. There's usually a logjam of competition. There's always four of five teams competing for that last spot in the conference tournament. You can't take any team lightly."

Corban was predicted to win the conference, followed by Rocky Mountain, Southern Oregon and Eastern Oregon.

Burstein will instruct his team not to focus much on the preseason poll, and instead focus on things the team can control.

"It's not really anything that we do on a daily basis and what we focus on," he said. "In the end, it's a preseason poll. Nobody's played any games. It's all based off speculation. It really doesn't dictate what we do as a team. We're excited to get on the field and compete the way we know we can."
