ACHA National Tournament Brackets Revealed

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The ACHA announced the pools for the 16 teams that have qualified for the Division 2 National Tournament.

The University of Providence men's hockey team is the #2 in the West Region. They will face off against Trine, the #3 seed from the Central Region, on Mar. 20 at 1:30 p.m. They will take on Roger Williams, the #4 seed from the Northeast Region, at 1 p.m. on Mar. 21. Their last pool play game will take place against the top seed from the Southeast Region, Liberty at 7 p.m. on Mar. 22.

The four pool winners will face off in the semifinals on Mar. 23, with the championship being played the following day on Mar. 24. All games will be played in Frisco, Texas.

"It's cool that it's starting to shape up," head coach Jeff Heimel said. "We have game times, we have opponent. It's just another piece to put together of what everything looks like. It's just starting to add some depth and some life to the experience."

Heimel said he didn't know much about the teams in their pool. His first order of business was to try and track down some game film of their three opponents.

"Now we can start carrying it from a strategy perspective," Heimel said. "We've never seen these teams at all. Just trying to get a sense of that. That will be fun. We're getting in game mode a little bit, where as the last weeks prior were more simple stuff about travel."

The Argos last played a game two weeks ago. The team was off the first week, and Heimel schedule a few practices last week. He'll slowly keep increasing the pressure until the team departs for Texas.

"It's an opportunity to take a step back and just be with the guys and do some team-building and watch some video. We just really want to prepare well, without overdoing it. The guys are itching for some competition. We'll be ready."
