GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence softball team announced the signing of Azia Umphrey of St. Ignatius, Mont. Friday morning
Umphrey, a senior from St. Ignatius High School, was an all-state catcher for the Bulldogs. As a junior, Umphrey led her team with 20 home runs and was named both 1st Team All-Conference and All-State. She was also a three-state athlete, playing basketball and volleyball alongside softball.
"Azia has a strong bat and can play numerous positions on the field," head coach Joey Egan said. "Her athleticism and grit will help our team tremendously. We are excited to have her at UP."
Umphrey is excited to join the Argo community.
"When I went and met everyone, I knew UP would be the perfect choice," she said. "The people genuinely want you to succeed and are just amazing people all around."
