Felt Scores Overtime Goal to Lift Argos Past Cougars

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Leo Felt scored a game-winning goal in overtime to lift the University of Providence hockey team to a 3-2 overtime victory over BYU Saturday night at the Great Falls Ice Plex.

The win marks the second intense game the team has had over the three-game homestead; the team defeated Utah State via a six-round shootout on Thursday.

"These guys made it interesting this week," head coach Jeff Heimel said. "It certainly was nerve-wracking from my point of view. I thought we played well tonight. It was as good as we could have played given the situation."

The Cougars (5-3-1) got on the board first in the first period, but Tobias Robinson evened the score, scoring his first goal of the season off the assist from Levi Anderson. Things remained tied until the third period when Felt find the back of the net with 12:47 remaining.

However four minutes later the Cougars answered, and neither team scored in the remainder of regulation to force an overtime. Felt came in clutch again, scoring 47 seconds into overtime off an assist from Tyler McCarry.

"Leo certainly has a track record of scoring goals in overtime situations," Heimel said. "It's been fun to watch him develop. He wants to win more than anyone. He scored that goal, but he also had the go-ahead goal in the third period on the power play. He played great tonight."

The win wraps up a three-game sweep for the Argos, who needed to make a good comeback after dropping two straight matches two weeks ago.

"It was huge," Heimel said. "Obviously we started the year well and then had a setback two weeks ago. As a coach, you're hoping for this response. I saw a lot of growth from our team this weekend. We had a really good opportunity to put ourselves in a good position and we took advantage of it."

The Argos will return to the ice on Dec. 3 with a home game against Montana State.
