#16 Argos Dominate #6 Lumberjacks in Home Dual

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – In their first game in nearly a month and a half, the #16 University of Providence hockey team defeated #6 Dakota College at Bottineau 8-2 in Great Falls Wednesday night.

The game was a bit of revenge for the Argos (3-5), who fell to the Lumberjacks on the road the last time the Argos took the ice 4-3. The Argos are currently ranked 16th in the nation which would make them the final seed allowed into the National Tournament if the season ended today. The Lumberjacks are currently ranked #6.

"It was a huge win," head coach Jeff Heimel said. "We just had to win. We might not win every game down the stretch but we have to compete and we've got to make a case that we deserve a chance at Nationals. We don't want to be holding our breath."

Heimel believes the time off allowed the Argos to focus on improvements that were realized as necessary in the first half of the season. It also increased their hunger to take the ice and play a team other than themselves.

"I'll be honest, we were definitely ready but you just don't know until it happens," Heimel said. "We were excited, we were well-rested and fired up. That's definitely an outcome I'm okay with. We played good hockey. We still got some stuff to clean up but we played good hockey."

Leo Felt led the way with two goals and an assist. Cooper Page and Ty Alger also added two goals a piece for the Argos. Will Wright and Kyler Mack both contributed one goal and one assist.

The Argos will have to regroup quickly, as they will get a rematch with the Lumberjacks tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.

"We just talked to our guys about treating tomorrow like another playoff game," Heimel said. "We won today, but we lose tomorrow and it's a step back. We have to be kind of robots and not have emotions for a bit and show up and be ready to go again."
