Box Score 2 EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Providence softball team fell to Bushnell in both games on Sunday. The Argos (2-7, 2-10) fell 9-4 in the first game and 12-7 in the second game.
"I'm disappointed in the result today," head coach
Joey Egan said. "I thought we played well, we just had didn't convert on our opportunities. We had our chances. We need to get better."
In the first game, both teams were tied at four until the bottom of the sixth inning, when Bushnell scored two runs off an error from the Argos.
The Argos tallied seven hits during the first game.
Taylor Mathews and Peyton Elliot each had multiple hits for the Argos.
Khalyn Hageness started for the Argos, while
Jaden Williams and
McKenna Montgomery also entered for the Argos.
Bushnell got on the board quick in the first game, recording six runs in the bottom of the first. The Argos scored two runs in the top of both the second and third innings, but the Beacons responded with 5 runs to make it 11-4. The Argos mustered three more runs throughout the game, but couldn't overcome the deficit.
"We made a couple of attempts," Egan said. "We left a lot of runners on base and had some chances to come back and win. We had the bases loaded and two runners on a couple of times but couldn't convert."
The Argos will return for a home series against Corban next weekend.
