Box Score GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence completed a weekend sweep of their rival Carroll College, defeating the Saints 21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-21
.
After last night's offensive performance from the Argos, including the season-high 22 kills from
Isaura Santos, the Saints made some blocking adjustments to stifle the Argos attack.
"We really struggled to catch up with that," head coach
Arunas Duda said. "We had a slow and sluggish start. They were able to slow us down, shut us down a lot. I think they had 10 blocks after the first two sets. And then we started moving the ball around better. We started creating some seams for ourselves and our hitters were able to capitalize on that."
A lot of that credit goes to four-time
Frontier Conference Setter of the Week Cydney Finberg-Roberts, who recorded 52 assists and 20 digs. Santos had another great game, recording 22 kills and 14 digs, as did right side hitter
Jensyn Turner, who had 18 kills on the evening.
"When you have both pins firing and they have to worry about both of them, it puts a lot of pressure on them to be better defensively," Duda said.
Sacha Legros also played a key part defensively for the Argos, recording 33 digs on the afternoon.
"She's a special player," Duda said. "What a great kid. We design our defense to funnel the ball to her as much as we could. She did a nice job of just staying patient. She always puts herself in the right position to be available to make the dig which is incredibly important. Her touch on the ball is great. The ball isn't just up, it's in the right spot. "
Taelyr Krantz led the attack for the Fighting Saints with 10 kills. For the second night in a row, the Saints had five players record double-digit digs, led by Julia Carr. Ali Williams recorded 25 assists.
The Argos will begin a four-game road trip next weekend with a double-header at Rocky Mountain.
