Box Score GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence softball team lost both games of their Saturday doubleheader against Warner Pacific. The Knights (17-18, 9-12) defeated the Argos (4-23, 4-17) 7-3 in the first game and 6-5 in the second.
"We definitely had chances," head coach
Joey Egan said. "Over the course of the weekend a lot of our games were very evenly matched. They ended up making plays when they needed too and we didn't."
The Knights got the offense fired up early in the first game, when Tatum Fell grounded out, scoring a run to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. They expanded the lead in the third inning when the team brought three runs home.
Macy Mangold gave the Argos some life in the fourth inning with a solo home run, but the Knights scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to expand the lead to four. The Knights would go on to win 7-3.
In the second game, the Argos got a quick lead in the top of the second, but saw the Knights score three in the bottom of the second to take a 3-2 lead.

Jaelena Trujillo brought home
Sarah Bury on a single on the very next at-bat to retake the lead. Trujillo scored again in the top of the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead.
The Knights tied it up in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game going into the final inning. The Argos couldn't muster a run in the top of the seventh, but things looked promising when they got two quick outs in the bottom of the seventh, before allowing a Knights run to seal the game.
The Argos will hit the road next weekend to take on Eastern Oregon in a weekend double-header.
"These next two weeks will be big for us," Egan said. "I believe our best softball is still in front of us."
