GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's soccer team will look to get back on track this weekend with a pair of conference home games.
The Argos (1-3-1, 1-1-1) will play Oregon Tech on Friday at 1:00 p.m. before taking on Southern Oregon on Saturday at the same time. Both games will be played at Argo Field in Great Falls, Mont.
The squad is coming off a weekend road trip to Washington, where the team
fell to Northwest before
tying Evergreen State.
"We had a tough couple of games this last weekend," interim head coach
Michael Rahn said. "We need to be more disciplined. Overall we need to do better. Obviously our offense is still sputtering. We're not getting enough contribution to the offensive phase of play. There's a lot of opportunities to increase our technical and tactical IQ in those areas."
Things won't get any easier against their weekend foes. The Owls (6-1, 2-1), who the Argos play on Friday, will look to rebound from their first loss of the season to the undefeated Raiders (7-0, 3-0), the Argos' Saturday opponent. The Raiders are currently receiving votes in the NAIA National Poll.
"Both are quality teams," Rahn said. "There will be some good competition. Both have had a lot of success in conference play. I think they will both be competitive and give us everything we can handle."
The Argos however, have played well on their home field so far this season. They lost a
closely contested match to Embry-Riddle, another team receiving votes in the national poll, earlier in the season before
taking down Rocky Mountain College off
Matthew Wilkinson's goal in the conference home opener two weeks ago.
"We've already staked our claim on our home field for the conference," Rahn said. "We played Embry-Riddle really tough here. It's a great opportunity for us to get back on a winning track and getting back in the direction that we expect ourselves to be. Hopefully we can put together a couple of nice, solid performances that will lead us to success."
