GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The #3University of Providence men's hockey team fell to top-ranked University of Mary 5-0 Friday night at the Great Falls Ice Plex.

The Marauders (21-4-2) scored two goals in the first period then followed that up with three more in the second period to take a 5-0 lead heading into the final period. The Argos (6-4) came into their own in the final period, but couldn't cut into the dent.

"Obviously any time you lose and don't score a goal there's things you need to do," head coach Jeff Heimel said. "We gave up a couple of goals early where I thought we could have been a little bit better at picking up guys at the net. We had some good spurts going on. We didn't have much going on offensively but I thought we hung in there. I'm proud with how hard our guys played tonight."

The team will get a chance to redeem themselves on Saturday, while also earning the chance to enact some revenge. The Argos will host Williston State, who defeated the squad earlier in the season.

"They'll be fired up," Heimel said. "We have this opportunity to right the ship a little bit for a game that we care not to discuss. I'm encouraged by that and I'm encouraged with this group. We know we have a lot to work on. We just have to do us."
