PORTLAND, Ore. – Sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Gray earned a shutout in her first start of the season, playing her part in a 0-0 tie for the University of Great Falls women's soccer team against Warner Pacific College.
The UGF defense in front of Gray recovered nicely after giving up three goals in one half against Eastern Oregon University the previous day. They allowed only two shots from WPC, one of which was on frame, in the first half and just four more in the second. Gray was equal to all three of the Knight's scoring chances in regulation.
Offensively, the Argos continued to struggled after scoring one goal off of one shot on goal against EOU. Sophomores Serafina Robles and defender Grace Ibsen were both able to put shots on frame in the second half for UGF, accounting for two of the team's five total shots.
The overtime periods saw UGF simply trying to maintain the stalemate, with WPC doubling its total of shots on goal with three more scoring chances. Once again, however, Gray was up to the task, garnering three more saves to bring her total to six.
The Lady Argos will look to get their offense going again as they return home for their next Cascade Collegiate Conference opponent. Now sitting at 3-2-2 (1-2-1), they will play host to Rocky Mountain College on October 2 at 3:30 pm, a team the tied 3-3 at RMC earlier in the year. Â
