CORVALLIS, Ore. – Goalkeeper Evan Scholes of the University of Providence men's soccer team was named 2nd Team All-Conference by the Cascade Collegiate Conference on Monday.

Scholes wasn't the only Argo to receive some recognition. Three other players, George Almeida, Tomeu Nebot Schmalfeld and Matthew Wilkinson, were all named Honorable Mention All-Conference as well.

"It's a great recognition of their achievements and excellence," interim head coach Michael Rahn said. "They're great guys. I'm very, very proud of them. I appreciate their leadership this season."

Scholes put together a successful season in the net for the Argos, recording a total of 57 saves over the ten games he started. He had a save percentage of 85.1% and a goals against average of 1.04. He broke the program single-game save record with 17 against Carroll and is 5th all-time in the program for saves recorded in a single season.

"Evan is a great student-athlete," Rahn said. "He's been a pillar of the program for two years now. He's a very good goalkeeper. He was our leader and captain and is an outstanding person."

Almeida also had a solid season for the Argos, recording a pair of goals and a pair of assists on the year. He kept the pressure up offensively, taking 23 shots on the season, seven of which were on goal. He was also named Academic All-Conference.

"George is amazing," Rahn said. "He was very solid for us in the midfield. He has aspirations to play at the next level and he's extremely qualified to do so. I'm happy for him."

Nebot strung together a nice first season with the Argos. The transfer from Missouri Valley College led the team with eight points on the year, scoring three goals and recording two assists. He also took 25 shots, nine of which were on target.

"Tomeu was a great transfer find for us," Rahn said. "He came in and had several game-winners for us. He really lifted the level of play and gave us an attacking punch."

Wilkinson was the other Argo recognized by the conference. The senior captain was the backbone of the defensive line that only allowed 16 goals on the season. Wilkinson also made his presence known offensively, scoring the game-winning goal against Rocky Mountain off a corner kick. He was also named Academic All-Conference.

"Matt had an amazing senior season," Rahn said. "He's an outstanding student-athlete. He's had a great career with us and I'm glad he got to go out on a high-note. I'm very happy to have worked with him."
