GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Frontier Conference announced on Monday that Jillian Sanchez of the University of Providence track and field team has been named the Erck Hotels Field Athlete of the Week.

Sanchez, a senior from San Bernardino, California had a dominant showing at the Trudnowski Open last weekend. Sanchez won the hammer throw with an NAIA A-standard throw of 50.68 meters, finished second in the discus (38.81 meters) and third in the shot put (12.03 meters).

The award marks the third time that Sanchez has won the award this season. She had previously won the award on Jan. 17 for her indoor performance at the Bobcat Challenge, and on March 28 after a solid showing at the Al Manuel Invitational in Missoula, Mont.

Sanchez, who had previously competed at the NAIA National Indoor Championships this season, has qualified for the National Outdoor Championships in both the hammer throw and the discus.

Sanchez will look to sharpen her skills as she competes at the Frontier Conference Championships on April 26.
