Hall of Fame
Jerry was a Colorado prep star who played four years for Coach Steve Aggers in the early 1980s. He ranks fourth on the school’s all-time scoring list, with 1,629 points. Schmitz also earned NAIA All-American honors. Jerry was a highly successful head girls’ basketball coach at C.M. Russell High School for eight years and was a boys’ assistant basketball coach at Great Falls High for several years. While at CGF, Jerry led his team to two straight Frontier Conference championships. He graduated with an accounting degree and a GPA of 3.8, and was an Academic All-District as well as an All-Conference selection in 1982-83.

Jerry met his wife Sherri, a principal at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, while attending CGF. Jerry and Sherri have five children: Megan, who played basketball at Montana Western, Michele who played basketball at the University of Montana, Jerry who played football at the University of Montana Western, Matthew who played golf at UGF, and Molly, who plays basketball at the University of Providence.
Jerry is a partner at Douglas Wilson & Company, PC, and has been active in the local basketball community as a coach at both C.M. Russell High School and Great Falls High.
