Rob "Spike" Spear, a 6-5 forward from Butte, Montana was a four-year player for head coaches Ray Dodds and Steve Aggers and was a key leader for the team during his junior and senior seasons.
Spear was a steady performer who put up consistent numbers every night. Over the course of his college career, he averaged around 10 points per game and over 5 rebounds per game. He currently sits 12th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,022 career points, and 4th all-time in rebounds with 579.
Not only was Spear a crucial member of the Argo teams of the mid to late 70s, he was also a star in athletics before and after his time at the College of Great Falls. As a three-year starter for Butte Central High School, the young Spear was named All-State and All Catholic All-American as a senior. After his college days, Spear went into athletic administration and was the Director of Athletics at the University of Idaho from 2003-2018.
