A native of Gary, Ind., Sam came to UGF after attending junior college in Wyoming. He scored 650 points in the 1969-70 season - an average of 25 points per game and scored 1,006 points in two years. Sam went on to play professionally for the Pittsburgh Condors of the ABA and then played for the Chicago Bulls in the NBA. He also coached in the Chicago area for five years.
